Pilates

The Pilates Method was developed by Joseph H. Pilates. The goal of the method is to awaken the core muscles and connective tissue that support movement and functional strength. Through the use of imagery and precise cuing, space and body awareness are enhanced. The entire body is used in an intelligent, integrated fashion that strengthens, stretches, realigns and educates the system. The process is further reinforced by the use of a variety of tools and Pilates equipment.

The union of breath and sensory-based functional and integrative exercises to encourage strength transmission and mobility form the pillars of our principles in CONTiNEO.

CONTiNEO offers movement that builds individual joint mobility and stability while enhancing global power and resilience.

History

Joseph Hubert Pilates was born in 1883 in Mönchengladbach, Germany. As a child, he was plagued by rickets and asthma. He was however determined to overcome these ailments and as a youth began with various physical regimens. He was greatly inspired by martial arts, yoga and the philosophy of attaining perfect physical and mental health. In 1914, while being in England and as WW1 broke out, he was interned in a camp for enemy aliens. It was here that he began to develop a holistic (body-mind) way of exercising and to create his specialized equipment. Joseph H. Pilates returned to Germany after the war and worked for the Hamburg Military Police, training them in self-defense and physical conditioning. In 1926, he decided to emigrate to the United States. En route, he met his wife and partner to be, Clara. Once in New York City, he and Clara opened their first studio. By the early 1930s, artists, athletes, dancers and actors had heard of their skill in working with injuries and consequently began training with the Pilates Method, which Pilates termed „Contrology“. Pilates worked very hard to promote his vision and, at the time of his death in 1967, his studio was a well-established institution.

Personal Training

With personal training, your goals and individual needs are assessed and supported. Reinforced by substantial experience, I emphasize a holistic approach that considers the many facets of your „individuality“. Through the use of metaphors and precise cuing, you will have the opportunity to increase your body awareness to help you move with more freedom and stability. One of the biggest advantages of personal training is to be able to work out when it suits you. Each session of personalized coaching lasts between 55 and 60 minutes.

Personal Training in small groups

Perhaps you would like to build your own small group of maximum four people. This option still allows a personal setting while reducing costs.
